Artists and analysts use both sides of the brain. They use creativity and logic, whole and parts, oneness and separateness to complete their task. While it’s true one may tend to lean towards either hemisphere in certain circumstances, the scientific evidence states we indeed use both sides for almost every thought and action.
The best way to integrate both sides and become more effective in our lives is to practise toggling back and forth between the hemispheres.
Our right hemisphere tends to view the whole forest and our left tends to view the pinecone.
Here are three ways this comes in handy.
- You’re able to turn feelings into words.
Our right hemisphere connects with the sensations of ur body and needs the left to put it into words.
Next time you have a strong emotion ~ put it into words. Boost your emotion vocabulary to help you.
Acknowledge your feelings and emotions by staying connected to them rather than dismissing them. You are creating more options on how to deal with your emtions when you integrate both hemispheres. - Meaning will help you dictate your action.
It’s so much more helpful and empowering to make a change in your life when it has meaning. Toggling between both hemispheres gives us more information about what’s important, we can see the details (left hemisphere) and the bigger picture (right hemisphere) to help us. - If you’re stuck and you’re only seeing the pinecone step back and check out what the forest has to offer.
Same if you only see the forest.
If you ditch the misconception you are either right or left brain dominant ~ you start the process of using your whole brain.
You become smarter!
