NeuroMyth #3. Our brain is hard-wired.
False.
Although it may seem like our emotions, thoughts and actions are hard-wired, and it’s impossible to change; this statement simply is not true. It is true that some of our brain pathways called are strong and well-developed. When we repeat a specific pathway, our brain takes little energy to bring it up to the surface making it seem like we are stuck with it. But, our brain (and therefore our habits) are simply much more capable of change than we think. This is due to a remarkable process called neuroplasticity ~ the brain’s ability to rewire itself.
We have 128 billion neurons in our brain. And, trillions of neural connections! And they are capable of reorganizing neural connections many, many times over. Thus, we can intentionally rearrange our brain pathways to change our thoughts, emotions, and actions. Knowing we are all capable of this remarkable process, makes the statement, “I’m hardwired to think this way”, seem less plausible.
All we need is the desire to want to change and give it our full attention.
And, repeat our new, more effective way of thinking and doing until our brain takes little energy to bring it to the surface and we’re stuck with it.
Let neuroscience of your brain and body do the rest.
Until we meet in Person.
Brain to Brain.
Heart to Heart.
