Today we explore NeuroMyth Number two:
We only use 10% of our brain.
FALSE
Have you ever seen the movie Lucy with Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman? She is exposed to an experimental drug that increases her brain capacity to 100%. This gives her amazing paranormal abilities such as telekinesis and telepathy. Although fun, suspenseful, and creative this movie is definitely science fiction.
Sorry, Lucy. We actually use 100% of our brain.
Think about it…What are you doing now? Reading, scrolling with your mouse, consuming a beverage, enjoying said beverage, thinking about supper, gathering meaning behind Instagram posts, and being able to sit upright along with all the essential functions needed to live. All of these are possible because of your brain. And that’s a lot more than 10% usage.
Really, I’m disappointed. I was hoping in the future there would be a pill I could consume to increase my brain capacity and maybe do a little telekinesis or telepathy.
I guess I’ll have to rely on increasing my brain’s abilities by learning, practising what I know, looking at new perspectives, gaining new experiences, reading a book and many more brain activities which revolve around the magic of my brain called neuroscience.
Until we meet in Person.
Brain to Brain.
Heart to Heart.
