Focus Your Attention ~ Make new habits stick around!

March 25, 2021 by Barb Earle

Focused Attention Helps Fertilize the  Brain

Why on earth would we want to fertilize our Brain?
Because it helps when we want to learn a new skill or create a new habit. This fertilizer is a specific protein found in the brain and is responsible for producing new neural connections. AKA new thought pathways. New pathways are required when we wish to learn or create. Think of it as a ‘miracle-gro’ for the brain. When there is plenty, learning is easier.

Especially useful if you are  determined to achieve New Year’s Resolutions.

What has this to do with Focused attention?
Think of Focused Attention as a precursor to the creation of this specific protein. Paying close attention to any thought, emotion and action increases its production and enhances learning and memory retention. So if you desire to retain that new skill, want to remember something important or ensure your New Year’s Resolution sticks, it’s worth your while to look at how to pay attention to focused attention. And produce some ‘miracle gro’ for your brain.

Here’s four tips to help:

1. Pay attention to your energy during the day.  Determine when your energy is high and when is it low. Perform essential work during high-energy times.
2. Avoid Multi-tasking. Focus on one task, then move on to the next.
3. Take regular breaks away from your task. Your Brain and Body need a recharge.
4. Overall: Stay active. Adopt Good Nutrition. Get a Good night’s Sleep.

Enjoy your focus. What can you create?

Until we meet in Person.
Brain to Brain.
Heart to Heart.
Ciao!
